Upgrade from 6.06 (Dapper Drake) to 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)

I would like to upgrade my 6.06 to 7.10. My /home is on a separate
partition (separate disc too as it happens); but don't let that fool
you into thinking that I know what I'm doing - I followed some very
clear instructions. I have a liveCD for 7.10. Please would
someone "walk me through what I have to do," or point me to a webpage
that does the same?

You can NOT upgrade from 6.06 to 7.10. The "upgrade" path is always
incremental; 6.06 to 6.10 to 7.04 and then to 7.10.

But you could do a full install of 7.10 and perhaps utilize your existing
home partition.

When the next LTS version is released there will have to be an
upgrade path for those that chose the LTS option with 6.06LTS.

It would be ridiculous to expect anyone go through 1/2 a dozen
upgrades just to get to the next LTS version. In fact it would be
meaningless to have an LTS version if that was to happen then,
because you would effectively be making them upgrade to each version
sequentially anyway so why not just make them do it with each version
release as they come out.

As some one pointed out. You cannot upgrade to the newest version of Ubie.

Why you ask. Because of the kernel packs and lots of things that make the system
tick. It sucks and why would they do that all ways come up. Of course they do
not do it just to tick you off. This is not micro soft here. Where MS wants you
spend lots of money to upgrade.
