A local value store offered a Targus PAKP003U cordless numeric keypad
for $2.99. The cordless mouse was missing. (I have no idea what the
original owner does with the cordless mouse, but no USB receiver
stick—door stop?) My immediate misguided thought was, "Dirt cheap
intro to Blue Tooth!" Actually, as per the fine print, the gizmo
operates on 27.125 MHz. I can hear it on my shortwave receiver! No
Blue Tooth.
But the cordless numeric keypad does work with Ubuntu 6.06. It works
in spite of the stated system requirements being Windows 98SE, 2000,
Me, or XP—which I don't have any of. (I just typed the numerals in
the preceding sentence on the Targus numeric keypad.) Targus makes no
claim for it working with any sort of Linux.
I can't imagine how Ubuntu finds a driver usable with something as
unusual as the Targus cordless numeric keypad. But it does.
