7.10 v 6.06 LTS

Date: Jan 02    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 386

I had recently installed 6.06 LTS on my laptop but I couldn't get the
WiFi to work. It was suggested to me that I should get a WiFi dongle
that was compatible with Linux. This I did, though not tried it yet.
6.06 LTS seemed to work ok.
I got a copy of 7.10 and ran it as a live CD. I could not get it out
of 800 x 600 for the screen resolution, though on 6.06 LTS everything
is fine.
I checked the screen drivers and it said VIA S3G Unichrome.
I tried to do a manual configuration but alas it appears this is not
available in 7.10 where it is in 6.06 LTS.
Can anyone offer any advice please ?

Did the wifi card work with 7.10? The screen thing is minor. What is your LT
make and model?

I just tried the live CD on my desktop PC and the WiFi dongle works fine. This
is the same as the one I purchased.

Didn't get any further than trying to get the screen resolution right but I
assume WiFi will work on aptop, which is an Acer Aspire 1362WLC
