Networking/shorewall question

Date: Jan 04    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 369

I'm attempting to use an old P2 box as a firewall/gateway for my home
network. In the Shorewall setup guide they said to add a 3rd NIC for
attaching your wireless AP. Why go this route instead of connecting
the AP to your hub/switch?

So you can write rules to limit access to your internal network from
wireless subnet. Attaching a wireless AP to the same subnet is asking from
trouble.

Thanks, I thought security was the main reason but I did not know if
there were others. This was the first "how to" that suggested adding
your wireless connection that way.
