Can't play DVDs

Date: Dec 05    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 421

I have a Samsung Lightscribe DVD internal drive. This thing does not play movie
DVDs. I can see the title of the DVD from "Places" drop down tab. I can view
and open files on a CD that I put in the drive. I'm running 9.10 completely
update.

To add insult to injury, I can't even eject this DVD with the button on the
drive. I have to shut the computer off and stick a paper clip in the hole.

It should be possible to use the "paper clip in the hole" eject method
without turning the computer off.

Whenever I insert a DVD or CD, it appears on my desktop. I can right-click on
it and select "eject."
