How about the sphere? A lot of people refer to the cube, cylinder,
sphere as eye candy but I would hate to live without it. I'm usually
running at least four different things so I put the different things
I'm working on, on different faces of the cube. Then I treat it like
one of those turn tables in some Chinese restaurants. If I forget
where I put something I just hit ctrl, alt, hold down the left mouse
button and turn it around to find what I'm looking for.
One cool thing though: Ubuntu first shows the desktop after
booting up, if you turn it, it's a cube even if it's set to sphere.
If, while it's finishing booting up the desktop, you hold down ctrl,
alt and the left or right arrow keys the cube will spin then
"magically" turn into a spinning sphere.
