I tried updating my Ubu Studio dual-boot machine
to 8.10 and it got all messed up because the
Nvidia driver issue. Or at least it got messed
up further when I tried the various fixes online.
I was able to get it to boot through the recovery
option but not directly and then my fixes killed it.
Oh well, I booted into Puppy and got the few data
files off it, mostly themes and wallpapers.
Rather than re-install the Studio version, which
seemed to have problems on that machine, I first
tried Mythbuntu (and still can't get my pvr-150
to work) but settled on Ubuntu Ultimate Edition
w/Ultamatix (8.04).
Strange, but it works better than the Ubu Studio
(login sound works, etc.) on it. For the media
apps, I just added the ones I had seen on 64 Studio
using Synaptic and I'm glad for it all.
