Help with Wireless-Upgrade to 8.10 Not going well either

Date: Dec 14    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 450

I just upgraded to 8.10 from 8.04 with success as far as I can tell.
I am having problems with my wireless connection. My linksys wireless
has always worked no matter what version of Ubuntu I have used over
the past year or so.
I am getting a signal from my router but I cannot obtain an IP address.
I go to the Networking Settings an can see my wireless adapater
available. When I enter the admin mode to try and change the settings
on the wireless adapter I go to the next screen which states click on
admin mode again and I select <OK> then the screen clears.

What do I need to change in some setting to be able to use admin mode ???
