64 bit installment with a 32 bit one

Date: Dec 28    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 428

I am considering replacing my 64 bit installment with a 32 bit one. I
don't like the hassle of special installments every time I need a
particular app eg, Skype, flash etc. Too much bother and not always
successful.
Is there ANY reason to stay with 64 bit? I do have an AMD 64 bit
processor but is there any other reason for me insisting on 64 bit?

The 64bit kernel still under development and can be buggy. Heck even MS 64
windows is buggy too. There is lot more support as of now for the 32 bit. Like
software and such. You can run the 32 bit on a 64bit system. A lot of people do
and nothing wrong with it. May be in a years time there will be even more 64 bit
software.

I was having multitudes of problems running on 64bit myself, and thanks to
the wonderful advice of the people here, I dropped down to 32bit and things
have gone pretty smoothly ever since.

Speaking of Skype...I was considering purchasing this software as well and
have not done so as of yet because I am not familiar with whether or not it
is installable on Ubuntu7.10. I know some programs can be installed with
WINE, yet others just cr*p out on you when you are installing them that way
and say it can't be installed.

I have Skype on this machine using 7.10 and it works beautiful. Just
down the .deb file for linux and install it.
