64-bit Hercules on Ubuntu 10.4 LTS 64-bit

I need some help with the installation of Hercules 64-bit on Ubuntu 10.4
LTS. There is no documentation in the current Hercules installation
manual for installing in Linux.

I installed Hercules 3.06 32-bit once under Ubuntu 9.4 some time ago but
don't recall exactly I managed that. One document I found associated
with Hercules 3.07 indicated use of RPM, so I loaded and installed rpm
and all the associated other items on my system and ran the indicated
rpm command, only to get a message saying I should use ALIEN. I loaded
and installed it and then came up with a lot of options that I have not
yet managed to figure out.

When I went to Ubuntu specific installation searches, I came back with
an indication that I should be using Hercules 3.06, not 3.07, so now I'm
not exactly sure how I should proceed.

Can anyone point me to proper instructions or give me some suggestions?

The repositories for Ubuntu 10.10 include Hercules 3.07-2. If you don't know how
to deal with an rpm, upgrading to 10.10 might be your simplest solution.

I'm planning to stick with the10.04 LTS version
of Ubuntu, since it works fine for everything I've tried so far and now
Hercules is running successfully under it.

When I first heard the word Hercules I immediately thought of the Hercules
Graphics Card.
