Xubuntu Intrepid System Beep

Date: Dec 13    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 601

I asked if anyone knew how to turn off that Annoying
System Beep whenever the computer gets to the login
screen (xubuntu intrepid). In addition, the computer speaker would
also beep on logout.

Even though my /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist file had the proper edit,
(while using Hardy, and the legacy file was rolled
into the Intrepid update) the speaker would still beep as described above.

Well, I've gotten the dang PC speaker to stop beeping at me.

Go to "Settings => Login Window => Accessibility Tab => Sounds"

Deselect the "Login screen ready" if it is checked.

That change, plus the edited blacklist file, seemed to make the
difference.

While I sorted out the login-screen PC Speaker Beep,
I have not been able to stop it on logout. So, in essence, problem is 50%
sorted.

I'm considering having another read of the "usplash" -related bugs in ubuntu bug
base.

Any other thoughts?
