I installed x11vnc. I found a post saying you can do ssl with it:

wadesmart@wadesmart:~$ x11vnc -rfbauth ~/.vnc/passwd -https -ssl SAVE
-display :0

So this starts the service. I have both 5800 and 5900 fowarded along
with port 80 (and 80 is working) but when I use the address:
https://host:5800 -> Unable to connect
https://host:5900 -> Connection was interrupted.

Did you try :5801 or :5901. On my Suse it is similar but to get the first
remote it's the port + 1, thus 5801 or 5901.
Give it a shot..

Since I want to connect to the desktop to provide support 5900 or 5800
is the one I need to connect to. As I understand it 5901 would be the
next desktop.

But I have tried with the same results.

Any chance it's a firewall problem, or authentication problem?

I have done Linux - Linux, and Win - Linux without problems, but not on Ubuntu
yet.

I was able to use tightvnc viewer on windows to access my computer but I
could only see things. I couldnt refresh the screen. But that doesnt
help anyway as this needs to work through a browser. But the firewall is
set to allow those ports.

At this point I think that the vnc-java is not either being found or is
not running.
