video card: recommendation

I have a Netvista M41 model 6790 Pentium 4, small form factor.
Running Linux Mint (sorry, I know this is an Ubuntu group).

I recently purchased a 19" LCD monitor, and then
I realized that the on-board video of the Netvista
simply does not push out resolutions above 1024 x 768 `cleanly`.

The video card slot is AGP, which (as I've read elsewhere in
this group), is a dying platform/protocol.

So my question is, since I don't want to upgrade the machine,
can anyone recommend a good AGP video card for $50 or less.

I simply want to push out good clean, high resolution.
I won't be using the PC for viewing movies or playing games.

tigerdirect.com has a radeon for $40 but I'd rather hear
from someone experienced with Netvista + linux + AGP
video cards in the small form factor.
