Video card replacement

Date: Dec 28    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 468

Running gutsy version.

My test computer [P3 micro ATX board] has an onboard video card which
is somehow faulty having a slight flicker. Slight yes but serious
enough to give me headache, eye trouble etc. [I've checked that the
mains lead doesn't affect the video cable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've
experienced that before].

I have a spare pci card, inserted it, and was delighted when ubu found
the card ok. But i don't seem to be able to find where to select the
second card. I thought perhaps there was a fault on the card and
checked it in my winblows pc and fine.

Think i've solved the problem. Just in case anyone else wanted to know!

System~>Administration~>Screens & graphics
Under screen you get Screen 1 and below that screen 1
You select disable on the top one and make the other default.

Far easier than winblows! again i ask myself why did i ever think of
using an OS other than ubu.
