Dual-Head AGP Video Card Recommendation

Date: Dec 13    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 398

I have installed Ubuntu server 8.10 and KDE on a Dell Dimension 4600. I
messed it up by trying to install the drivers for my ATI X1550 dual-head
from the ATI website.

Why is it so hard to get dual-head cards to work under Linux? This is
something that XP does easily. I don't want Windows. I have two older
machines with AGP slots. I have an ATI X1550 card and an ATI X2440, both
dual-head. Would I be better off getting NVidia cards? I really don't want
to buy new workstations?

Is there an idiots guide to getting ATI cards to work? I have been to many
websites and gone through all of the steps to get cards to work to no
avail. Any help will be apreciated.
