I am brand new to Linux/Ubuntu and am trying to find out how toinstall some games that are not .deb. Again I am anewbie so keep it simple. I have tried GDebi but it only works with .deb.
A rule of thumb is to check synaptic all ways first. If you install from a tarball or RPM. It may break the software you are installing and may be incompete.Not all tar balls are going to work.
