Synaptic has all the software Im betting you could need although I havent
tested anything YET!!

Unfortunately, there's nothing in Synaptic for contest logging. I'd like to
find something as easy to install and use as CQRLog, but designed for
contesting.

I have not used YFKTest but it has been around for a while, written
in Perl for Linux/Unix. Look at :

is a starting point.

Have used Linux on the shack PC for some years now and have tried most
ham software. For every day logging you cannot beat xlog, for contesting
there is not a lot about, there is tlf which runs in a console and is
like windoze SD but can be hard to setup. You will need to get the
latest version which is not in the repositories.

have you opened Synaptic then click on Settings > Repositories then
make sure Universe is checked?
Then There should be tlf, tucnak2, twlog and xlog.
That is all I know of, but you could do a web search for what your
looking for and include Ubuntu, Linux or Debian in the search.

There is also this http://radio.linux.org.au/

Have any of you folks tied "xlog". I have not used it but a friend thinks it
works nice.

I cannot answer your question because I am Ham challenged, but there is a
podcast called Linux in the Ham Shack and perhaps you could contact the
hosts.
