Hardy...................

Date: Dec 26    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 448

I just installed Hardy on an old IBM 600X Thinkpad. It's a 500mhz
system with 512 of RAM. It's the first Live CD that would install on
this machine. With 6.04 I had to use the alternate install.
Everything's working perfectly? What'd I do wrong? Now what do I do?
It just works!

There is one minor problem but hardly seems worth mentioning. When I
shut it down, it shuts down to just the Ubuntu splash screen and sits
there. Have to kill it with the power button. Any ideas?

Having read reports if this for awhile (since 7.10 on some machines), it seems
to be something to do with gdm. I would try to install kdm and see if this
resolves it. Or you could try re-installing gdm if you really want to be all
Gnome. (I am using kdm-kde4 and really like it.)
