Restricted Drivers Manager in Hardy

Date: Dec 27    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 474

I'm trying to get Hardy up an running on a DV2000 series HP Laptop.
It's mostly working except for wireless. In researching solutions to
my problem, I see references to the Restricted Drivers Manager. The
Restricted Drivers Manager is there on my Toshibs (running 7.10), but
it doesn't show on the Hardy system. There is an option under Admin
for "Hardware Drivers", and that was where I found the driver for my
Nvidia chipset. That driver put an icon on my menu bar to show that a
restricted driver was in use.

So, did Hardy rename "Restricted Drivers Manager" as "Hardware Drivers"?

Yes that is one change that we need to flag up. Thanks Ed. It seems a
cleaner arrangement to me.

I have installed 8.04 on a hp dv 6000 machine. The wireless drivers can be
found by searching the Ubuntu forums. These forums are your friend. It was a
multistep process but went well. I am sending this wireless from that machine.
