Wireless Networks with Ubuntu

My lady friend has a Dell Vostro 1400 Laptop That is running Ubuntu, I have a
new Linksys G Wireless Router model WRT54GS.

I use the search mode on the Routers software and it can not find the Dell
Laptop. I have it wired at the moment, what do I have to tell the Laptop and/or
the Router so that they can talk to each other?
