Requiring new PC for ubuntu

Date: Dec 26    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 482

I've been trying to read up about motherboards in order to get a new
machine as my old P3 'test' machine seems to have a graphics problem.
I tried a new graphics card but still flickered. So i thought it was
time to get a new motherboard or to save me any trouble a new PC.

Be grateful if someone could advise regarding selection for ubuntu...
e.g. i know one is better to stick with nVidia and ATI for graphics
but not sure about anything else other than reading what other folk
have put in feedback.

a couple of examples on the list
a] http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131868
b] http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144828

Does anyone know of a good website that takes one through motherboard
selection and what one needs to consider?

Mother board dies not really matter at all. Graphics is Nvida because they have
open their driver up to the linux people.

What should one be careful of with onboard graphics cards. My other
machine is a compaq and seems to run fine with an intel chip.
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82815 Chipset Graphics
Controller (CGC) (rev 04)

Some people had a hard time getting the ATI onboard graphics to work.
