I would like to move my Ubuntu 7.04 from its' present disk to a larger
disk on the same machine. Will some kind soul point me in the direction
of how to do this?

I dont know if you can move an entire os from one disk to another, but,
lets say you can. Wouldnt it be better to just install it direct and
then move your
/home dir?

There are aspects of Linux and Ubuntu with which I am somewhat
comfortable. The file structure of Ubuntu is not one of those aspects.
I have been using Ubuntu for almost a year now and have installed many
packages. I don't believe that all those files are held under /home. I
would like to move to the new disk with the least practical effort.

Maybe if I understood better how the various directories under root were
organized I would be better able to cope with this. For example, if all
the files for the various packages were kept under /home and /usr, I
could install 7.04 on the new disk then copy the files from those two
directories from the old disk to the new disk. (/home and /usr are just
examples.) Is it something that simple or is there more to it than that?
