Installing Ubuntu

Date: Dec 04    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 387

I have decided to install Ubuntu to a External HD(80gigs) but want to
be able to dual boot, with my main drive in the computer. Is it
possibly and do I have to use Grub? From what I have seen lately
there is a problem with grub?

Second I have a CD from Pratical Guide to Ubuntu, which has 7.10 on
it. If I use that for the install, once I get online will it update
to 8.04 or should I make a ISO on CD of 8.04 and install from that.

Once I do install Ubuntu on my HD, will it recongize my main HD and
another External HD that I have?

Install it but direct it to format and install on the External. It will
duel boot and grub is OK so why the doubt.

No 8.4 is a Beta version and will not update at present. If you want it
download and burn it to CD.

Yes it will recognise the drives but not if you pull and plug then at
random is my experience.

08.04 is a release as of April and if one wanted to waste time one
could update from 7.10.

I stand corrected about the date and release but is it an auto update?
