using a flash drive on feisty

Date: Jan 02    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 441

I been using a couple of flash drives on win98. Now that i have changed
to feisty it seems that the files copied over to the hard drive without
a problem. But should i format the flash drives to ntfs for better
compatibility?

One of the flash drives has given trouble when used on win98 and so i
wanted to defrag/format that one to check it over - how is that done
with a flash drive?

I understand flash drives are all formatted Vfat or Fat16

Google 'HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool' if you want to format in Win'
otherwise the Terminal commands are straight forward if you wish to
reformat .
If not broken don't mend it!.
