Drivers for the Intel wireless cards

Date: Dec 12    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 384

I said that Ubuntu 8.10 would not load my Median dual boot Vista/Ubuntu
laptop Intel 3945abg wireless card and although I really did try the
ndiswrapper route, it just would not work. So I loaded 7.10 first and
bingo it worked. Then I upgraded to 8.10 and guess what, it all works.

Be carefull how you enter the wireless encryption.

After going round in circles for a whole day, the next day I got
straight into my network first time!

Well I thought 'key' meant Hex and passphrase meant 'Ascii.' in 8.10.
But in 8.10 'key' accepts ascii no 's:' prefix either.

8.04 uses more comprehendable expressions so it is not so easy to make a
mistake.
So now I've got rt2500usb, rt73usb and zd1211 all working on 8.04 and 8.10

Intel 3945 worked straight off, no messing just the encryption key
inserted.
Wubi install Xubuntu 8.04, Fuji Amilo laptop.
