Intel Extreme Graphics & 9.10

Date: Jan 08    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 395

I just changed over to this box and loaded 9.10. This box has an Asus P5PE-VM
Mobo and Intel Extreme Graphics onboard. Everytime I reboot it changes the
resolution to 800x600 from 1024x768. I also get tiny squiggly lines when they
should be straight. The only thing I can think of are the drivers. Any ideas??

Why use 9.10 ? You are correct that you need updated drivers but there
are no updates for 9.10 now - at least through Ubuntu directly. You'd
get better results from 10.04LTS or 10.10 and updates will install the
relevant Intel graphics driver.

I had a feeling. It was all I had at the time. I guess its time to
upgrade.

9.10 still has updates till next April. Regular releases have 18 months
support. 10.04 was LTS which means it has 3 years support which is better,
but you are not obligated to upgrade. Just so you know.

I did the upgrade and its working pretty good. The 800x600 problem
has been solved but the "Squiggly Lines" are still there. Im now
thinking maybe its the new TV/Monitor. Its one of the new HDTV that
has a VGA port. Ill check it with the old winblows machine to see if
its the monitor.

I had a similar problem with my monitor you may need to download a new monitor
driver, just a guess. Seems like mine was a Sylvania F720 or something like that
and It was never in the default drivers of early Linux or Windows one.
