New CD drive not recognized

Date: Dec 20    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 453

I had two CD drives. One was a DVD/CD and the other just a CD.

I have removed both of the drives and replaced it with one drive which
is an HP dvd1040i 20X Multiformat DVD Writer. Windows found the drive
and it works fine.

But I cannot get Gnome to recognize the drive. I my file browser it
shows CD-ROM 1 and CD-ROM 2. When I click on the drive I get: "Unable to
mount the selected volume."... "mount: special device /dev/scd0 does not
exist " or "mount: special device /dev/scd1 does not exist" on the other
one.

I am running 7.10 and I am unable to upgrade. That will be a problem I
will tackle after I get my CD drive working.
