New install on new hard drive question

I've installed Ubuntu on my laptop as a dual boot with Vista and
am very impressed with it. I'd like to install it on a new hard drive
in a two year old Compaq desktop pc. Are there directions for this
type of install? I went to the support section of the Ubuntu website
an found directions for a new hard drive that would be the 2nd in a
machine, but not for a primary.

Not sure how to auto-mount it (or if it'll just do it itself), but you
should just be able to pop it in and use gparted to format it to
whatever filesystem you want.

If you want to use the HD for Ubie alone. There is nothing special you need to
do. Just pop in the PC hook it up. Check the BIOS to boot from CD ROM first
and install. Check how much ram you have and what processor you have. Too little
it will not run.

And it will do the formatting and everything?

Yes it will. Just let it install and it should fly. It will ask you if you want
to take the whole drive. When it takes the whole drive it will give it a proper
format. Gparted is good when you want windows and linux. Or you want multi O/S
on the drive.
