Kubuntu 11.10

Date: Feb 11    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 439

the laptop computer has 224 MB RAM, with 20 GB hard drive.
Howard is the brand, model MS2117.
This computer is older than my grandma but was hardly used.
Online I read the minimum specs for Kubuntu 11.10 is
256mb ram
4 gb hard drive space
So the install is probably not completing because of the lack of RAM.
No error message, just keeps trying.
Since this computer is old, can I try an older version of Kubuntu or maybe try
Ubuntu 6.02 or 10.something. There are no parts to buy to upgrade the RAM.
Any suggestions?

You'd be better trying an up to date but lighter version of Ubuntu
rather than an old version that's no longer supported.

Lubunu / XFCE / LXDE - lots of options for the less powerful system,
just a matter of the time needed to download the ISO and create the
boot CD's
