Video device *choosing* problem

Date: Dec 18    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 286

I'm having problems using my webcams and my TV card because the webcam
will show up in the TV software (if at all) and the webcam's won't
show up in the various programs I've loaded to check (Cheese,
Camorama, etc.).

I've used the lsusb to find the webcams, but need to know how to
manually/statically assign the video devices to get everything
working. Even if I had the commands, I don't know the literal name of
the TV card. I would like to try changing the defaults (like I did
previously with soundcard choices) to see if it fixes the problem.

Basically, right now my webcam and tv stuff isn't working, with the
main problem being that the video device isn't recognized or the wrong
device is chosen and won't let me change it.

I'm using:
MS Lifecam vx-6000 (yes I know it doesn't work in Linux yet)
Logitech Pro 5000 (worked previously on my test machine w/bugs)
Hauppauge PVR-150 tv tuner

I previously had a problem with the Lifecam's mic showing as the
default audio.
