Ubuntu replacements for FoxBase and/or VenturaPublisher

Date: Nov 29    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 727

After setting up a separate machine and getting myself somewhat Linux-literate,
I am almost ready to drop Windows entirely and change over to Ubuntu, 100%. But
there is a fly in this ointment:

During the summer every year, I run a baseball league for kids, and in those
operations I use a (Windows-based) WYSIWYG desktop-publishing program - Ventura
Publisher. And a database program - FoxBase (command-line oriented version; I
have little need for graphics or OOP capabilities.

Can anyone suggest Linux-based software to replace Ventura and FoxBase?

Scribus is the most-used desktop publishing program. Full Circle Magazine is an
example of Scribus output.

Mysql is the big database. It's got some learning curve.
