This is Unity 2D which is written in QT (KDE's language), but features
will be similar to the 3D Compiz one in the end. GNOME is written in
GTK. QT is considered to be stronger and have more features. It was a
month or so ago that Shuttleworth announced that Ubuntu which has
always been strictly GTK would support both GTK and QT.
