FF bookmarks are just an html file in your .mozilla folder (hidden folders
can be viewed by pressing Ctrl-H). You can copy it and paste it as is (it is
called bookmarks.html and it is in your profile folder under firefox, the
profile will end in .default). You can also Go to Bookmarks, Organise
Bookmarks and Backup in FF itself. I just use the file manager and copy it.
This does not keep it synced, though. For that you need to use a service
such as Xmarks. Or you can back up your home folder using something such as
Backintime (which is what I do.)

In FF go to bookmarks, open it and at the top click on organise
bookmarks, under that is backup, and there you can export them
to a usb drive or anywhere like on a network drive, then on FF or
Internet explorer you can import them for use.
I tend to carry a copy of my bookmarks so I can use them at the
library or work and go to my own favourites.

Have you thought of saving it to Dropbox or Ubuntu One? You could also try a
bookmark service such as Xmarks which is what many people use. It will sync
your bookmarks as long as the extension is on all your computers.

If the file is in html format it can be read by any browser on any computer.
Firefox bookmarks are already in that format. They are stored as a single
file unlike IE Favourites. It can be found in your
.mozilla/firefox/abunchofcharacters.default as bookmarks.html.

USB drives can become unreadable or lost. So why not sign up for an add-on
extension for bookmarks instead? I love Xmarks for Linux.

It will be better to go to your own FF Add-Ons and select from the HTTPS:
Webpage...

I forgot about this Add-On:

I use xmarks (xmarks.com). It saves and syncs bookmarks between computers for
you (Windows & Linux). It's free to use but it does require you set up your own
acct. Also has an option to save passwords, which I do not use. I don't trust
any one with my passwords.

I have never trusted online systems for saving any of my info because I
do not know how they may use it . Still think it best to save to your
own media.

Yes you go to the Bookmarks Menu and choose Organize. Here you will find
Import/Export. Just export the list to a memory pen in your usb drive
