I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on my host computer and use virtual machines. I
created a VMworkstation Using Lubuntu 12.10. Everything worked alright, but
I could not copy files off of my network to my vm nor could I copy from the
vm to any share on my network. I rechecked all permissions and went through
the smb.conf file with a fine tooth comb. I tried doing the same thing with
Mint 14 and had the same problem. When I tried copying a file, it would
only copy the file name and hang. The length of the copied file was always
0 bytes. When I tried copying a folder, it would copy the folder name and
hang on the first file in the folder. The file would have a length of 0
bytes.
I then downloaded konqueror and guess what? Konqueror would copy files and
folders perfectly. But when I used the new file manager in Lubuntu, it
still failed to copy files. I created a vm using Mint 14, and it had the
same problem. This problem does not occur in Lubuntu12.04 or less or in
Mint less than 14. I went and checked out launchpad and found several
people had the same problem, but no solutions. Any hint to what is
happening?
