I have been trying to get my HP Deskjet 990C printer working under Ubuntu 9.04
without success.

system --> administration --> printing --> new gives me a device screen showing
serial port 1, serial port 2, other and network.

On my other computer doing the same shows serial port 1, lpt #1 and other (plus
the printer and other items) Its running the latest debian.

How do I get LPT1 to show up? The 990c is a parallel printer (actually it also
has a USB port but that is connected to another computer). I did reboot into
winxp and print something so I know the parallel port works.
