New upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04

Date: Dec 03    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 426

Have just done an upgrade to 10.04, my internet worked for one day,
now when I boot up I can not send mail or connect to the internet with Firefox &
Evolution Mail.
My Netspace ADSL modem/router says I am connected but Firefox times out looking
for sites & I get the message "error while fetching mail"

Perhaps something went haywire with your dns settings? If it happens
again, you might check the contents of /etc/resolv.conf to make sure it
hasn't been nuked or replaced with something silly.

It's useful to determine whether the problem is name resolution, or
actual connectivity. Pinging your default gateway or other known hosts
by IP address can provide helpful clues, as can doing some host lookups.

I upgraded a vintage Sony desktop...10.04 from 9.10, which worked fine from the
get-go. Everything functions as expected. Keep those oldies-but-goodies!
