Installing lightscribe rpm's

Date: Dec 27    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 377

I've just found a couple of lightscribe software files
specifically for Linux (as opposed to Windows). The problem is that
they're only available in the rpm format! I've downloaded them to my
home folder; now I'm trying to find a way to install them! Archive
Manager doesn't recognize the home folder as a valid repository. I've
tried downloading a couple of other packages that supposedly can work
with RPM packages, but I'm still at a loss as to what to do next!

not sure if this helps, but if you know your apt-gets and bash
commands...

try putting the file in the home/YOURNAME directory where YOURNAME is the
name of the folder you have your system installed to

If you install alien from the repositories you can convert rpms to debs. Once
installed you run it from the terminal with the command alien -d <filename>. To
find out more type alien -h and it will show you other parameters to use.
