I am very new to programming and am taking my first introductory
course to Java programming. I tried to install a Java programming
environment on my computer from a CD-ROM (DrJava- Java SDK, Standard
Edition Version 1.4.1) but got stuck after I ran the Installation
Wizard. I use Windows XP, and I now have the components of DrJava
installed. However, i don't know how to access the program so I can
start programming.

The installation notes say I should set something called a path
variable. What is a path and how do I do this? If anyone is familiar
with DrJava and could help me out with how to open and start using
it, I would greatly appreciate it.
