installing lightscribe app

Date: Dec 14    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 391

I went here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LightScribe

and found these instructions:

1. Visit the LightScribe download page for Linux:
www.lightscribe.com/.../index.aspx

2. Download the LightScribe System Software package "deb package"
software.

3. Download the LightScribe Simple Application "deb package" software.

4. Double-click the lightscribe-1.14.32.1-linux-2.6-intel.deb file and
follow the prompts to install it.

5. Double-click the
lightscribeApplications-1.10.19.1-linux-2.6-intel.deb file and follow
the prompts to install it.

6. Run the /opt/lightscribeApplications/SimpleLabeler/SimpleLabeler
program.

I got through numbers 1 to 5 just fine, but, the question I have is
where do I do #6? I can't find where I should type this command in.

I apologize if this is a real silly question but I've only been using
Ubuntu for 4 days.

Cut and paste the entire command line
/opt/lightscribeApplications/SimpleLabeler/SimpleLabeler
into your terminal and execute it by pressing the "Enter" key.
This will open a window that will take you through the process of
burning the label.

I take it you are using ubuntu, therefore gnome.

Right click on desktop choose create launcher Give it a name eg Simplelabler.
For the command browse to the program under file system then navigate to the
path given above. Say ok to it and it should work. Simle labler works but is
a little limited. A better program is 4l

Don't follow the whole thing just the instruction for getting the 4l program.
You shouldn't need all the visudo stuff either, I didn't it just worked
without all that extra tweaking.

It's not a silly question as we all had to ask it when we started. You
open a terminal, probably from a menu item under accessories, and type
it in there. You can use cut and paste too and editing the command
line is possible too - use the arrow keys and delete key, it's always
in insert mode.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.
