I am running Ubuntu 10.10 I can not get the printer to work in Ubuntu worksfine in windows xp. Any suggestions?
Have you installed the hplip : HP Linux Imaging and Printing - Print, Scanand Fax Drivers for Linux. If not do so. Then check your System drop downmenu. Go to Administration and left click on printing. It should autodetect your printer. Make sure to right click on the printer icon andselect it as default.
It detects it but there is no driver available it instead selects driver forHP 3320 hpijs 3.10.6 and this does not work
I downloaded the latest HPLIP version 3.11.1 how do I install it?
I copied the file HPLIP 3.11.1.run to desktop. Then opened a terminal windowtyped cd Desktop then typed sh hplip-3.11.1.run press enter and nothinghappens.
Did you not download an ISO package to burn to a CD. Then you have theprogram to load at anytime on CD.
I have an HP3050 and it works just fine. It shows the correct printer inthe HP listand just works. I am using 10.04 and I think 10.10 on the systemupstairs that isUbuntu also. A question though. Is this printer connected to the Ubuntusystem?Mine is connect to my XP system and print and file sharing is enabledthere.I would expect that if yours is connected direct to the system it wouldsee itfaster. The HP3050 is an old enough printer the drivers should be available.I did have to go the HP site to get the driver for the XP system though.
I do not think we were told what model he has?
I have HP 3050 Deskjet print scan copy
I have Ubuntu 10.10 it is connected via usb
Then if you go System/Printer and the Add and browse for your printerthat shoul;d of course be turned on it will find it and install the driver.
Great news I finally it to print I downloaded HPLIP 3.11.1 again and thistime it installed itself. Found my printer and printed a test sheet. I havenot tried to scan yet. Thanks to you guys for pointing me in the rightdirection.Running Ubuntu 10.10 connected via usb will experiment with scanning and thewireless function and let you know the results
OK then - can you assist me - I installed ubuntu 10.10 that has a HPLIP6 andwhen it does a test print - the printer goes nuts and continues to push outunprinted pages until it runs out of paper or I pull the paper tray. I lookinto the drivers and it finds the drive - question should I go and down load thesame driver as this one maybe corrupt?
I could have swore he said it was a HP3050, if not I am sorry for the post.It isn't the first time though that I may have made an assumption that waswrong, it has happened before, and will probably happen again.
Go to the printers web site and with your printer model number click thesupport link and get a liunux driver.
The HP site?........................
This is what I trying to dohplipopensource.com/.../index.html
Avoid those sties because they often send an unwanted payload with allsorts of adware etc.
Last time I did the print driver, the HP site redirected me to the open sourcesite.
Yeshttp://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.htmlPut in the model number and look for the printer driver.
I was sure I had seen it somewhere, as usual right at the end of my nose.
