well it finally broke powered down to refit a dvd burner when I restarted I got

ERROR:OUT OF DISK " wtf "

tried everything I could think of even reinstalled 11.10 twice now I have a hard
drive making a whirring noise yet the disk manager says all disks are healthy
Lost 36gb of downloads :(

got it running ish but wont recognise dual monitors

puts one of the usb external drives into computer column and the other where it
should do in the drives section 12.04 couldnt come too soon for me.
debating whether to drop down to 10.04 where all of it works perfectly or limp
to 12.04.

phenom 4 core
4gb ram
gt8500 graphics dual flatron monitors both 19" 1 standard and 1 widescreen
250gb seagate drive ( slight noise )
500gb wdc hard drive
500gb wdc hard drive
1tb usb external drive
2tb external drive
samsung laser printer
HP allin one deskjet f380.
In 10.04 worked perfectly fast system all drives where they should be.
installed 11.10 took ages to get dual screens to work and externels acted up now
and again. computer is running 365 24-7 chronic heart failure and insomniac

what do you guys think. limp to 12.04 or reinstall to 10.04 or have I missed
something will limp the system until fri night then decide .

thank you all for reading my daughter came round to day a windows freak made a
suggestion what I said was it begins in F and ends in F she wasnt pleased :)

tried 11.10, 11.04, 10,10, 10,4 all messed up then I tried zorin and it loaded
up straight away and it recognised my dual monitor system fingers crossed it'll
behave until 12.04

I don't know if it will help, but I use the Hiren's Boot CD and use PLoP Boot
Manager to boot my externally installed Mint 11 LXDE, since the HP internal
drive went bad and says out of disk, I removed it. This laptop is too old to
boot from USB, so I use PLoP.

It is directed towards former Windows users, so you
know that it has to be easy to use. It is based on Ubuntu but is a bit
behind the curve (comes out roughly annually). They have GNOME and LXDE
desktops, but include packages from other DEs that work better, such as K3b
(part of KDE). To its credit it has an LTS version and three levels of
entry, Core, Lite and Educational. There also are ultimate, gaming,
multimedia and business versions for a fee, 7 to 15 euros each plus S&H.
