Why does Abiword run like a wet noodle in mud on my Linux 900 mhz PC? It is so
slow I give up and never open anything with it.

Interesting, I have a 600mhx laptop that run it in just a few seconds. Are you
opening any particular type of document in which it is slow or does it just open
up to its default page slow?

It runs great for me. I am running 64-bit K/ubuntu. I got it from
the 10.04 repos.

Wow, that it is strange that other people don't have this problem. Every
document I try to open and read or write runs (or rather fails run)
VERY slowly. I just give up and close them and never use it at
all.

I am very politically active so it could be some form of MIB denial of service
attack on me personally. "They" probably don't want me typing at all, lol.
Bummer.

This is why I was wondering if there is some form of Linux or program that runs
UNDER EVERYTHING and will show you every process your hardware is running so you
can figure out is you have been hijacked.

I am running Abiword 2.8.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit. What is your version?

As an alternative to Abiword i would recommend Ted.
Here Abiword runs fast but does not show the pics in the documents with pics.

I'm running my Abiword, well, not running my Abiword under Ubuntu 8.01 or is it
8.10.
