VMPlayer is not easy to install. First off you need many pre-requiste
packages and it needs to be compiled. It is easy to do if you have
everything in place and have an understanding of the process, but if you are
a newbie it is daunting. When I first did it I could not even figure how to
quit the licensing screen and was caught in limbo until I tried various key
combinations before figuring out it was Ctrl-Q. Linux users aren't used to
EULAs and from a terminal at that.

I can use VMPlayer or server but VirtualBox is so much better, so don't
bother. Unless you are running a pre-built appliance then it makes sense to
use VirtualBox. It has way more features nd you can make VMs which you can't
with player. And there is not EULA to confuse you. Once you have seen a VM
running in seamless mode then you won't use anything else.

Check the pre-requisites first. It has been a long time since I used
VMPlayer because VirtualBox is so much better. In other words, I can't
remember the exact steps.
