What's diff between WEBSERVER & APPLICATION SERVER

I have some doubts can anyone clear my doubts.i would be very much pleased if i
get to know this answers.

Questions)
1) what is the difference between webserver and application server
2)how do we call a stored procedure from jsp.
3)to call myself as an J2EE programmer what things i have to learn.
right now i know :JAVA,XML,JSP,Servlets.other than this what things i need to
learn.

please answer these questions.i am looking for an answer from everyone of u.

Application server  provides additional service like Transaction Control,
Security Access, Resource Management and Other Resources such as Connection
Pooling etc Whereas webserver  does not provide that kind of services
