Just installed Ubuntu 11.04 and want to set my home page. I looked at firefoxhelp and is says after going to the page to drag it into the box to the right. Then click YES, but there is no Yes to click. When I close firefox and restart it I'm back to the original Google page> I'vedone it several times with same result
Dunno about any drag n drop method, I've always found Firefox does this much thesame way as IE, i.e. go to the page you want as home, click the TOOLS menu, thenOPTIONS (or alt-t, o on the keyboard), then on the GENERAL tab click USE CURRENTPAGE.
Yes. But options in Linux is in Edit not Tools.
If you are using a newer version of firefox and the dropdown menus are notdisplayed at the top, you need to press the f10 key to see them, thenTools>Options>General.
just realized my wife had windows running on this box... pleasedisregard.
The Firefox version that came with my version of Ubuntu 11.04 was Firefox v 4.0I rechecked HELP and manage to figure it out. I was supposed to drag the currentpage [of the site I wanted as home] to the home page button not the space nextto it. The writer of the HELP message kept talking about how EZ it was to do,but s)he ddn't figure on the fact that new Linux users may be more familiar withIE. :-) It is easier to do this there. Thanks for the reply. I could not determine the order of you reply because Ican't tell whether the list is FIFO or FILO.
I find that it is done the same way in either application.
Firefox for Windows has Options under Tools, on Linux it's under Editunder Preferences. I never did any drag, I just did it similar to the Firefox orIE is done.
Oh yes, silly of me: I was using Windows Firefox at work and got confused. Also,it's PREFERENCES on the edit menu, rather than OPTIONS.
Thanks to every one who replied to my message about setting home page [or startpage]. I got the answer on the earliest message. I figured out that it wasearliest expanding the view so that I could read the tiny print that showed thetime messages were sent.
