Firefox won't load...

Date: Nov 29    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 415

I am using Chrome to post this because updates have got Firefox Extension
Checker in a loop, I can't stop it or continue. I've posted a crash report that
I think may be attached to a Python bug. Here's the offending announcement:
Script: file:///usr/lib/firefox-3.6.7/components/nsExtensionManager.js:623

I'm afraid I don't know where to find the script in Ubuntu or if I have to be
root or un-hide stuff. Yes, I know more about WinXP's Firefox.
On a previous topic someone had with Xorg, I was able to get this info:

abc@Gateway-P4:~$ cat
/etc/debian_version

abc@Gateway-P4:~$ ls -l /etc/X11

The following web page will help you to avoid the compatibility check:
How To Bypass Firefox 4.0 Beta's Incompatible Add-on Error and Install
Extensions Anyway at (all one-line follows):

I'm not sure that would work as I'm not using Firefox 4.0 beta yet. This
is a Ubuntu 10.10 bug.
Is there a way to tweak the Firefox extension script from a Live CD in some
way?

I finally got fed up with Chrome's differences in
WOT, in Firefox it shows the familiar colored o's at the end of each Google or
Yahoo search item showed, but I didn't see them in Chrome on Ubuntu 10.10.

I also was befuddled when I tried to forward a sent Yahoo email to the party
again...what came up was a previous email to someone else. Then I tried to
copy'n'paste to a new email, no joy there either.Had an appointment, so when
I came back I re-booted, ran Janitor to delete any old files that might be
goofing stuff up.Then I used Synaptic and found more updates. When it
finished I tried Firefox, true there are some extensions I liked on Google's
Chrome, but I like Firefox better yet.
