In my Windows XP system, I have a nice freeware program that acts as a
macro manager for all my applications. I frequently have to fill in the
date, for example. I type dt in any app, and it's expanded to today's
date. I type jpn and it substitutes my full name and address.

Is there something similar in the Linux world?
