Nvidia Driver

This is further to my recent boot problems. The computer has been well
behaved this weekend, so am reluctant to mess with it too much. My
computer seller has suggested that I try installing the NVIDIA driver
from synaptic as it may have a newer version. I installed the driver
from System/Admin/Hardware Drivers. Would this method not also install
the latest driver?

I am thinking it would not make any difference.

There are several drivers and not all work well with Maverick. I have heard
that Version 96 and 173 have had problems with older Nvidia cards. It is
recommended that you install the latest version. The best place to install
proprietary graphics drivers is from System Administration, Additional
Drivers (called Hardware drivers previously).
