Incorrect hd usage

Date: Dec 18    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 344

Im about to start backing up some files on my computer onto another drive and Im
getting a descrepency in the size.

Under gparted it says: /dev/sdb = 37.27GiB
When I click on /mnt and view the contents - Rick click and chose Properties I
see it says 27.5BG, zero contents.

I have deleted all my old files from this folder and deleted the .Trash but 10GB
is still missing.

How would I go about getting this back?

Is the drive partitioned?

Try using the command:
$df -h

This will give you a human readable output of all partitions on the system.

Yea its partitioned:
/dev/sdb1 29G 145M 28G 1% /mnt

I just dont see what is using 145mb of space.
