ok i do have one question, so far. is there a way i can change the file download
location for transmisson, id like to have it save all completed downloads to one
central drive.

If you want the downloads to go to the Windows partition ( username /
downloads ) then that's possible but you first have to mount the
Windows partition. It's possible to have this auto-mount when booting
into Ubuntu but involves a little command like work - the page here
has the info and the lines to copy/paste into terminal. Method 2 is
probably the better one as it enables a graphical tool to do the job.

Note that when pasting into terminal you hold down [SHFT]+[CTRL]+[V]

has no installaton of windows. just a common drive to store files, now i am

To see files on other partitions, open the file manager and look at
the top-left, where you will see an entry such as "63 GB Filesystem". Click on
it, and you're looking at the Windows c: drive.
